FAQs

DOES SOMETHING HAVE TO BE “WRONG” FOR ME TO BENEFIT FROM THERAPY?

No, not at all. Anyone alive experiences ups and downs. Therapy is one way to understand yourself more deeply and build skills and insight for wherever you’re at. However, if you plan to use your insurance to help cover therapy, you may need to meet your plan’s medical necessity criteria (what this means is that that there is a condition to be treated, often a diagnosis, and the treatment is necessary and appropriate to treat the symptoms - please reach out if you have questions).

I THINK WE COULD BE A GOOD FIT, WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

First, complete the Let’s Connect form. You can then expect to hear back from me within 1-2 business days, where we can set up a 20 minute free consultation. During this call we can get a feel for whether we’re a good fit, talk about what you’re looking for and your availability. After we’ve scheduled our first session, I’ll send you the intake paperwork and get you set up in the Client Portal. Next, we meet either virtually or in-person. During our first session we’ll get into it and talk about your goals, questions, worries, dreams, or whatever else might emerge. Initially we’ll meet weekly and explore what’s needing the most attention and assess where you’re at and where you want to be. Depending on your needs, sessions will then continue weekly or bi-weekly or once a month.

HOW ARE SESSIONS OFFERED?

As we all collectively continue to make our way through the COVID-19 pandemic, services are offered both virtually (telehealth using zoom) and/or in person (we are still required to wear masks in healthcare settings). For established clients, there is the option for meeting outdoors at Mt Tabor Park. Therapy services are offered only to Oregon residents, although some exceptions may apply.

WHAT KIND OF COMMITMENT DO I NEED TO MAKE?

Typically, clients initially commit to weekly therapy for 8-10 weeks. This is generally a good start to build trust, practice accountability and showing up for yourself, and when shifts and change begin to be observed. After 8-10 weeks, we can check in and see if changing the frequency of sessions makes sense/feels right.

We can also discuss more short-term work together. Session tend to be 6-8 weeks or fewer and focused on a primary issue. This can evolve into something more, but the initial investment is focused and brief.

CAN I USE MY INSURANCE?

I’m happy to provide you with an itemized superbill so you can easily self-submit claims to your insurance for out of network reimbursement.

I’m in network for Pacific Source insurance and case by case with OHP/Health Share. I’m working toward becoming in-network for additional providers, so stay tuned.

See Rates & Insurance for more info.

WHAT’S YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

I get it that things happen and life can be unpredictable. Because your time slot is reserved for you, and often there is a wait for services, I ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel - that way someone else might be able to fill it. The full session fee will be charged if an appointment is missed without canceling first.
